Abstract

In this paper, the QSI test was conducted on composite laminates toughened by three kinds of rigid particle(silicon dioxide, polyimide and glass bead) according to ASTM D 6264-98. The effects of particle category and size on QSI damage resistance and mechanical properties (tension and three-point bending) were studied. The experimental results indicated that the means of rigid particle interlayer toughening could improve QSI damage resistance and had influence on ultimate tensile strength and flexural strength.
