Abstract
Curiosity and exploration are vital to the human spirit and accepting the challenge of going deeper into space will invite the citizens of the Latinamerican countries today and the generations of tomorrow to join the Andean Road Countries for Science and Technology (ARCST) on this exciting journey. The first step in embarking on a long and challenging journey involves laying solid groundwork for a successful endeavor. For that, the ARCST serves as the first Latinamerican organization focused on tackling the challenges, opportunities and innovative approaches to developing the current and future space workforce. Here, we report the results of the first Small Satellite Technology Strategy Workshop 2018 (SSTSW-2018) organized by ARCST in coordination with Beihang University, where several students and young professionals immersed in the Space Technology gathered to discuss the challenges on opportunities in the space field faced by Latinamerica. Our understanding of its current status will pave the way for future cooperation and the development of a stronger space workforce in Latinamerica.
