Abstract

The center of pressure (COP) excursion is usually used to quantify postural stability during standing balance in clinical and experimental studies. In fact, static stability during upright standing depends on the position of the body center of mass (COM), specifically in relation to the base of support (BOS), determines. Therefore, the relationship between COP and COM determines the validity of balance assessment based on COP. Here we employ a method for simultaneous measurement of the COP and COM displacements, and analyze the relationship between the COP and COM for double standing with partial foot support base.
