Abstract

In general, bistatic SAR owns the superiority of collecting additional information about the target compared to monostatic SAR because of its separated transmitter and receiver on different platforms. In this paper, a modified 3-D coherent model was used to simulate the scattering field of forest canopies in bistatic model, the zenith angle of the transmitting platform was fixed, and several different zenith angles were explored on the receiving platform, the scattering field of a single tree was obtained. Bistatic BP algorithm was used to reconstruct the 2-D bistatic SAR image for the simulated data. Imaging results of different bistatic angles were obtained, and the imaging results were analyzed. Range resolution in bistatic model can be improved compared to monostatic SAR.
