Abstract
When buses are modified to extend the capacity in XX hydropower plant, they produce heat in function because of their resistance. In order to improve the reliability and security, it is necessary to put up thermal analysis before they are in function. The heat balance of the vertical bus fixed in bus holes was analyzed. and the thermal model was established. The temperature of the bus under natural cooling condition was computed by numerical calculation. If the temperature does not meet the requirement, two schemes of forced ventilation are proposed and compared. The ventilating fan is selected on the basis of analysis.
