Abstract
The uniform, large-scale, bundles of unbodied NdOOH nanotubes have been synthesized by the improved microemulsion method in the presence of an anionic surfactant, sodium bis (2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) in toluene with nitrate neodymium and hydrogen peroxide at a low temperature. The structural and chemical information of the nanotubes was studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The NdOOH nanotubes have diameters about 100 nm and lengths up to 0.5um. The thermal behaviour of the present compounds has been determined by means of thermogravimetry (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques. It has demonstrated that the stable Nd2O3 would be formed by heating.
