Abstract

The γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles coated with DBS and CTAB were prepared by the microemulsion method. The coated samples show enhanced nonlinear optical properties compared with their bulk counterpart. The Moessbauer spectra at room temperature were measured for the coated ferric oxides. The monolayers of the organic molecules are found to have a strong chemical bond with the surface atoms and thus have a significant influence on the electron structure of particle surface.
