Abstract

The EM metasurface absorber has essential applications in radiation prevention, energy collection and stealth technology. In this paper, we propose a simpler design method for perfect metasurface absorber by combing the surface wave conversion supercell (SWCS) and resonance supercell (RS). We take the first order Mie resonance of SrTiO3 dielectric cylinder at 8 GHz for illustration. The RS reduces the scatterings of surface wave in inter-SWCSs, enhancing the absorption and reaching perfect absorption. Due to the surface wave conversion effect, the composited absorption supercell (CAS) is more robust than uniform single absorption structure. The dispersion relation shows that the surface wave cannot propagate in RS, solving the problem of impedance mismatch in the inter-SWCSs. Moreover, we propose the two-dimensional designed CAS for polarization-insensitive and wide-angle absorption. Our work provides a new prospect for surface wave conversion effect in EM absorption domain.
