Study on the dual-band characteristic of combined element based frequency selective surfaces

Abstract

This paper proposed a proof for the existence of dual-band characteristic of the combined element FSS which contains two simple elements in each unit cell in particular condition, and provided an explicit relationship between the resonance frequencies of combined element FSS and the member element FSSs. Serials of experiments showed that this conclusion was not only suitable for the no dielectric support cases, but also worked well in predicting the frequency response of dielectric loaded FSSs, and no exception has been found up to now.
