Study on Particle Size Control of Tracer Particles under Rotating Channel Conditions

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This paper discussed the selection principle of tracer particles when using PIV measurement technology. We designed and manufactured tracer particle generation system based on the rotating channel test bench and Laskin nozzle. After mixing particles and experimental airflow into the rotating channel, we measured and analyzed the particle size distribution of tracer particles with laser particle analyzer. According to the experimental data, the particle size range of the tracer particle that has the main influence on the PIV image under this experimental condition is 0.5~1 μm. The pressure in front of the nozzle is directly proportional to the concentration of the tracer particle. The Reynolds number of the mixed flow in the experiment is inversely proportional to the concentration of the tracer particle. The influence of nozzle aperture on the concentration of the tracer particle is different under different conditions.
