Abstract

A method for near-field coherent sound source identification was proposed by combining interpolated array technique with two-dimensional spatial smoothing. Actually received signals were converted to far-field signals by interpolated array technique, and spatially smoothed covariance matrix was calculated through two-dimensional spatial smoothing. Then, the signal power in the vector of given direction can be obtained to identify the location of sound sources. Simulation results show that the method is much more accurate than the conventional beamforming approach for identification of sound sources.
