Abstract
A simple model based on the Landau-Devonshire theory is capable of simulating the pseudoelastic hysteresis behaviour of memory alloy, namely the hysteresis becomes smaller with increasing temperature and disappears at a critical temperature. The experimental results obtained from the single crystal specimens of CuZnAl memory alloy show that the width of hysteresis area does not change significantly with temperature, while the area of interior hysteresis loop depends on the quantity of stress-induced martensite transformed from austenite.
