Study on anti-wax property of chemical conversion coatings on carbon steel

Abstract

The wettability of water and liquid paraffin on the coatings was also studied. The results show that the coatings exhibit hydrophilic and superoleophobic properties in water/liquid paraffin mixture system. The contact angle of liquid paraffin on the coatings in water reaches up to 158°. The specific wetting property enables the coatings to trap water molecules on the surface and reduce the adherence of wax crystals.
