Abstract

The technical scheme of failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) for airborne power system was proposed, which applies the electro-magnetic transient program (EMTP) as computer aided analysis tools. The simulation models at normal power supply and failure modes were built, respectively. To determine effects of failure modes of various elements and devices on the system, it is necessary to quantize definition of failures of the system, which has technical specification of the system at normal operation as reference base. All operation states, which unsatisfy the specification, were considered as failure state. Then automation generation of the failure effects and determination of the severity were performed. The unijunction oscillator used for voltage regulation was considered and simulation results have shown that automation FMEA technique, compared with manual FMEA, has the features of exactness, concreteness, time saving and convenience to operation.
