Abstract

Due to the shortage of polylactic acid (PLA) as a biomedical material, the preparation of bioactive PLA becomes an effective method to compensate. At present, the methods of PLA modification to prepared bioactive PLA include physical and chemical ways. The physical ways are blending, surface adsorbing or coating. The chemical ways are copolymerizing, crosslinking and surface modifying, all of which endow bioactivity on PLA by changing the polymeric macromolecule structure or surface structure. Here reviewed these methods and proposed to prepare and fabricate bioactive PLA by bionic design principle.
