Abstract
The paper presents a new method to processing bit-stream signals directly with the digital technique. The basic two blocks, bit-adder and bit-multiplexer, are described and composed of other circuit units effectively, such as filter and bit-stream square root circuit. The principle of the blocks are investigated and realized with the digital circuit. Bit-stream over-sampling processors have three advantages over multi-bit Nyquist rate processors. First, single-bit/multibit converters are not needed at the inputs and outputs of the processors. Secondly, the physical areas for routing the signals among the circuit modules are small. Thirdly, the processors are built from a smaller number of logic gates than conventional Nyquist rate processors. As an application of the technique to digital signal processing, a current PI control of DC motor is presented and simulations show the effectiveness and the feasibility.
