Abstract

Energy difference rate method is applied to establish a closed form solution about stress intensity factors of shear modes for three dimensional finite bodies containing inclined embedded cracks. According to energy difference rate method, two dimensional results of stress intensity factor can be utilized sufficiently to solve the three dimensional problems of stress intensity factor. The results given by this method agree with the generally recognized ones satisfactorily when the cases degenerate into symmetric ones. Furthermore, systematical results of three dimensional stress intensity factors of shear modes can be obtained by energy difference rate method with high computational efficiency.
