Abstract

On basis of reviewing on methods of achieving the goal of stall margin in design process of fan or axial compressors, stall margin customizing(SMC) is put forward. It is divided into two design loops. One is two dimensional, which includes through flow design and blade making and through flow performance prediction. Here through flow performance prediction plays most important roles in achieving the stall margin goal, and its most distinct feature is that the sweep effect has been completely involved. Another loop of controlling stall margin is three dimensional, in which performance prediction with three dimensional CFD tools is highly relied on. The present stall margin customizing emphasizes the former two dimensional loop because it is somewhat beforehand. This is the reason that the technique of 'SMC' comes from.
