Spoiler upward deflection on transonic buffet control of supercritical airfoil and wing

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A method with spoiler upward deflection to control buffet was presented to find an effective and economic way to improve supercritical wing buffet performance. Research based on the SC(2)-0710 airfoil showed that spoiler upward deflection could delay the merge of shock-induced boundary-layer separation and trailing-edge separation, which could stabilize shock position and decrease the buffet intensity to expand the buffet boundary. Flow conditions were set as the same as the experiment in the ONERA S3Ch wind tunnel, where investigations on the OAT15A airfoil were carried out.
