Simulation experiment study on elliptical ultrasonic vibration boring of leading bushing

Abstract

Most research on elliptical ultrasonic vibration cutting is without leading bushing in present, in this paper, the elliptical ultrasonic vibration cutting device with leading bushing is studied. Based on the analysis of elliptical ultrasonic vibration cutting mechanism, cutting experiments were done. The results show that elliptical ultrasonic vibration cutting device with leading bushing can still make the cutting forces decrease remarkably, and improve the machining accuracy. The average thrust force and principal force of elliptical ultrasonic vibration cutting value drop to 19.6% and 31% of conventional cutting. When the theoretical depth of cut is 0.050 mm, the actual depth of elliptical ultrasonic vibration cutting is close to the actual depth of cut and the value is 0.045 mm. There are large difference between conventional cutting and theoretical depth of cut, the actual value is 0.032 mm.
