Simulation and experiment study of pigtail module grinding track

Abstract

Pigtail module grinding quality has a direct impact on the insertion loss and accuracy of the gyro, which is brought by directly coupled optical path of the closed loop fiber optic gyroscope. In this article, simulated and analyzed is the grinding track of the pigtail geometric center point by Matlab from reducing grinding sandpaper wear and ensuring the uniform abrasion of fiber end face in different planet gear speed and different grinding distance, thus a set of optimization of the grinding parameters were obtained, and the grinding experiment was carried out. The experimental results show that the established grinding equation is correct, also confirm that the utilization rate of grinding sandpaper is high and the wear of grinding sandpaper is light when planetary gear speed is set as 1 r/min.
