Abstract

Optical Coherence Domain Polarization (OCDP) technology has been widely used to measure the mode coupling in polarization-maintenance fibers (PMF). The mode coupling is very complex in actual application. Both conventional analysis methods,i.e.the optical path point -by -point and the spectral coherent matrix method, include enormous calculation and are hard to simulate on computer. Based on the properties of light propagation and wide band interference, three laws for the convenience of computer simulation, which are the phase, amplitude and interference laws of polarized output waves, are presented.Through programming the simulation and comparing simulational and experimental results, it is shown that the interference fringe due to the multi-coupling can be efficiently and exactly generated with the above mentioned method. So it provides a powerful tool for the analysis and design of multi -coupling interference in PMF.
