Simulation and Evaluation on Solar Membrane Arrays Based on Structural Statics and Dynamics

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

As one of the important sub-system in space solar power satellite (SSPS), space solar membrane array can be regarded as the first step to collect solar energy. Therefore, its mechanical characteristics should be clearly considered. Based on the MR-SSPS concept, this study investigates the static and dynamic simulation and evaluation on solar membrane arrays in MR-SSPS. Static and dynamic simulation including theory, geometry model, material property and FE model are all proposed. Furthermore, evaluation for analysis results in different load cases such as static, modal, uncertainty and fault load cases are all discussed. The simulation and evaluation can give some useful suggestions in the design of the space solar membrane arrays.
