Abstract

A visual 3 D temperature field system of electron beam welding (EBW) based on the finite difference method (FDM) was developed on the Windows NT platform by virtue of the rapid development soft of C + + Builder and the 3 D animation interface of OpenGL. This system can simulate the shape of melting pool, heat circle curve of any point in HAZ, the spiking defect and the EBW keyhole dynamic formation process. The experimental and theoretical results are in good agreement.
