Abstract

Amphibious flying cars can solve the problems of traffic congestion and environmental pollution, which have a widely application scenarios. At present, flying vehicles cannot meet the long endurance capability in flight and the small size and low windage performance in driving at the same time. By learning from the characteristics of gull wings, this paper proposes a novel bionic flying car configuration with gull wings. Through the three-stage folding of bionic seagull wings, this configuration can greatly reduce the body size and reduce the windage in the ground driving state on the basis of ensuring good aerodynamic performance in the flight state. First, the configuration of scaled bionic gull wing flying car is designed based on the shape of seagull wings; Second, the key parameters of gull wing are optimized based on Pareto genetic algorithm to improve the aerodynamic performance in flight; Finally, in-depth aerodynamic performance analysis is carried out under flight and driving conditions. The simulation results show that the bionic gull wing flying vehicle has good performance both in flight and ground driving.
