Abstract

It is well-known that the urban road intersection is the area of the most polluted by the vehicle emissions, so taking Gongnong square of Changchun City as an example, its traffic and emission status was simulated by the microscopic simulation software TSIS. The vehicle emission was selected as the main test criterion and the vehicle delay as complementary criterion, two signal timing optimization concepts were proposed and comparatively analyzed, and an optimal concept was defined. The obtained results provide a new approach to reducing the vehicle emission on the urban road intersection by the signal timing optimization.
