Abstract
Modeling and Simulation (M&S) community is faced with imminent requirements and challenges, such as simulating system of systems (SoS), integrating simulations with real systems, and integrating heterogeneous simulation systems together to address domain missions. System architecture is designed to make simulations adapt applications such as GIG (Global Information Grid) environment and SA (Situation Awareness) application. Applying service oriented architecture (SOA) to distributed interactive simulation is discussed in this paper. Necessary and feasibility of SOA on distributed simulation are analyzed. Primary researches, new progresses, and main achievements are presented. Methods and techniques adopted by researchers and developers are discussed. The benefits and problems in research are also introduced. The issues discussed and addressed in this paper could provide strategy and reference for large scale complex distributed interactive simulations used in U AV (Unmanned Air Vehicle) and NCW (Net Centric Warfare) systems.
