Abstract

The integration time of geosynchronous synthetic aperture radar (GEO SAR) is much longer than that of low Earth orbit SAR (LEO SAR), and the non-cooperative motion of ships leads to imaging defocusing. Sea clutter not only affects the estimation of motion parameters, but also reduces the signal-to-clutter ratio (SCR) of the image, which seriously affects the image quality. In this paper, a sea clutter suppression method based on L-statistics method is proposed. Utilizing the sparse characteristics of ship signals in time-frequency domain, the sea clutter is suppressed nonparametric by retaining a certain proportion of time blocks in each frequency unit in time-frequency domain. Simulation and measured data verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
