Abstract
The scattering by electrically large conducting targets with partially-coated anisotropic medium is studied by the hybrid method of finite elements method(FEM)and physical optics(PO)method. FEM is applied in the region which is coated with complicated medium, while PO and equivalent edge currents method are used for those of electrically large conducting target. Considering the coupling of two regions, the shadow regions of the boundary surface are eliminated. The common constant phase front of scattered fields from two regions is chosen to unify their phases. Therefore, the vector scattered fields can be superposed to calculate the RCS of the target. The numerical results show that this method is efficient and accurate.
