Abstract

A new type of high-precision fiber optic sensor for temperature measurement named Sagnac fiber optic temperature sensor is introduced. This sensor is based on fiber optic Sagnac interferometer. After a detailed analysis of its principle, the connection between temperature and the output of the interferometer was testified. A complete system was designed and set up. Experiment and test results show that the sensor can achieve high-precision and large-scale temperature measurement.
