Abstract

According to the requirements of object detection in battlefields, a sensor combination is selected and an untagged wireless sensor network is designed under low-cost and low-power restrictions. Infrared sensors work as "wakeup sensor" to realize waking-up and sleeping of sensor nodes and detect vehicles and people simultaneously, a magnetic sensor is used to detect ferromagnetic material and a sound sensor can distinguish the sound signal characteristics between vehicle and people. All signals of sensors are processed by the simple and practical signal processing methods. The multi-sensor data fusion method based on D-S evidence theory is designed and developed. The experimental results has shown that the proposed system can effectively detect, identify and track the people and vehicle in the laboratory environment.
