Abstract
The signal priority and the optimization of bus rapid transit vehicle headways were discussed in this paper. For control program of intersection signal priority and fixed cycle for the full line, measurement index of the study problem was proposed. The solution algorithm based on genetic algorithm was designed to simultaneously optimize headways and signal control parameters. A real example of Beijing BRT 1 line was taken. The solution process was realized by VISSIM simulation software and VC++ programming. The result show that under different combinations of vehicle speed, headway and signal control scheme, the proposed method can improve the speed and on-schedule rate of vehicle, also the true sense of the bus priority was achieved.
