Abstract

Method of impedance matching for elliptical vibration cutting piezoelectric transducer was presented by analyzing impedance characteristics of the transducer. The optimized working frequency of the piezoelectric transducer was selected in its nonresonant region, which made two suits of PZT actuators with different resonance frequency work in coordination at the same frequency. At this frequency, cross talks between two suits of PZT actuators were slight, so that the two directional vibrations could be controlled independently. During the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting process, phase difference change between two branches was less than 0.5°, and the elliptical vibration output of the transducer was steady.
