Abstract

Currently, the theory of reliability is mainly focused on product design, on the other hand, we do not have a good knowledge of reliability assurance in manufacturing process. Meanwhile, lots of engineering cases show that the reliability of products falls rapidly when it comes to the phase of batch production, revealing the weakness of our research of manufacturing reliability. Nowadays, the major problem faced by the industry is that how we can assess the product reliability in the manufacturing process as well as identify the manufacturing bottle neck which should be focused attentively by the reliability engineer in manufacturing process. To resolve the problem, a reliability assessment method of manufacturing process by using the Weibull analysis technology is presented in the paper. In this model, the reliability of manufacturing process is calculated by analyzing the manufacturing system failures firstly, and then the correlation model of reliability of manufacturing process and the qualified rate of produced product is established. According to the correlation model, we propose a reliability estimation method based on Weibull analysis technology. And the map estimation and chi-square goodness of fit tests are performed on simulated data to compare the fit of the model. Lastly, the method is validated by an example of a mechanical product manufacturing process, the result shown that the assessment method can be a useful tool in the assurance of reliability of the manufacturing process.
