Abstract
Bunched electrode as a novel method for fabricating electrodes is formed by bunching a number of hollow cell electrodes together. For an in-depth understanding to bunched-electrode EDM (BEDM), experiments whether under tool planetary motion or not were conducted. The influence of pulse duration and discharge current on material removal ratio(MRR) and tool wear ratio(TWR) in BEDM and solid-electrode EDM (SEDM) was tested. The results of the experiments show that BEDM is stable under tool planetary motion, and is superior about MRR and inferior about TWR to SEDM's.
