N2 - The SPMC (Swash Plate Multi-stage Compressor) is capable of simultaneously driving multiple pistons in a reciprocating motion to achieve continuous compression among its different cylinders, which can significantly miniaturize the high-pressure compressor. The multi-field coupling actions of multiple pistons render its dynamic characteristics complex and increase the vibration and noise. The SPMC with a variable cross-section is proposed, and its model with fluid-thermodynamics-mechanical multi-field coupling is established, taking into account piston motion, thermodynamics of multistage compression and intermediate cooler. The transient characteristics of the system and its units are obtained, and the sensitive factors are studied based on their influence on system dynamics. The research results indicate that the dynamic characteristics of the SPMC are improved significantly, especially when there is a large volume and strong cooling of the intermediate cooler.
