N2 - In engineering, the vibration signal is the common equipment state data, and mostly it is nonlinear and non-stationary. In order to access the life of mechanical products by engineering vibration signals, the empirical mode decomposition method is proposed to decompose the vibration signals, and intrinsic mode energy entropy is calculated as the degrading characteristic quantity, depicting the health state of mechanical products. Thus, a degrading characteristic quantity sequence is derived. Then, assess the life of mechanical products with the degrading model. The method proposed is validated by the vibration signal of a certain oil pump, compared with other frequently-used methods, the results show that this method can effectively assess the bearing life.
