Abstract

Broadband and wide-range shunts have been widely used in current measurement field. The existing shunt calibration methods based on thermal conversion, direct comparison and vector network analyzer cannot satisfy the accuracy requirement in a broader band of (>1 kHz). This paper presents a novel calibration method using the gain-phase port of the vector network analyzer and discusses its main error sources and error correction measures. At 100kHz, the novel method can calibrate the AC-DC difference with an uncertainty within 120 ppm and the phase angle within 171 ppm at the same time. Its application band can be extended to 100 kHz ~ 1 MHz in future.
