Research on a new direct drive electro-hydraulic proportional pressure valve for aircraft braking system

Abstract

Pressure servo valve is usually used to regulate the pressure of the braking actuator to stop the wheel in traditional aircraft anti-skid braking system. The disadvantages of pressure servo valve include complex structure, high production costs, and the requirement for high quality of the hydraulic oil. In addition, its pilot stage is easy to block by contamination and has a constant leakage. This paper proposed a direct drive electro-hydraulic proportional pressure valve which adjust the brake pressure directly with an area-deviation-spool, and studied its application in aircraft braking anti-skid system. The mathematical model of this proportional pressure valve is carried out. Then, the dynamic and static characteristics of the direct drive electro-hydraulic proportional pressure valve are analyzed. The application of the valve in the aircraft anti-skid braking system is simulated. This paper simulates aircraft anti-skid braking systems on dry and wet airstrip, and gives simulation results. The simulation results show the feasibility and advantages of using direct drive electro-hydraulic proportional pressure valve in the aircraft anti-skid braking system.
