Abstract

According to the development of sliding mode control (SMC) in recent years, the SMC domain is characterized by eighteen directions. These directions are chattering free of SMC, quasi SMC, trending law SMC, discrete SMC, adaptive SMC, SMC for mismatched uncertain systems, SMC for nonlinear systems, time-delay SMC, terminal SMC, global robust SMC, sliding mode observer, neural SMC, fuzzy SMC, dynamic SMC, integral SMC and SMC for stochastic systems, etc. The evolution of each direction is introduced and analyzed. Finally, further research directions are discussed in detail.
