Abstract

The development of new materials has promoted the industrial progress. The rapid-solidified Mg-Zn based alloys provided new methods to the problem of landfill leachate treatment. The reaction behaviors of rapid-solidified Mg27.1Zn72.9, Mg40Zn60, Mg50Zn50 and Mg60Zn40 ribbons in landfill leachate and in 1% glacial acetic acid are examined and analyzed. Due to the non-equilibrium structure and big specific surface-area, the ribbons react with the landfill leachate in a few minutes and the byproduct is clean fuel hydrogen. The time-H2 volume curves in 1% glacial acetic acid are analyzed to make a quantitative comparison.
