Abstract
SmarTeam is a kind of PLM software, and the application of SmarTeam during the process of SBA was investigated. PLM is integrated in SBA to manage different resources and to share the product data. Moreover, PLM was expanded from three aspects. Firstly, by using the PLM API and ActiveX technology, PLM was integrated with Matlab, and users could browse the control system file generated by Matlab in PLM. Secondly, by using the PLM tool and the APIs of PLM and MS Project, an integration of PLM and Project was devised to improve the project management function of PLM. Thirdly, by using the PLM tool and setting the SBA resources, the model of SBA authority control was established, and PLM could manage the authority of the entire SBA system. The extension of the PLM application can help to support the SBA process better and resolve the problem of complex resource management in SBA.
