Reliability methods to determine fracture toughness K1C and fracture threshold value Δ Kth

Abstract

According to the randomization method of deterministic equation, a p-JR-Δ fracture curve equation is established. From this fracture p-JR-Δa curve and fracture passivation curve, fracture critical value (J1C)p with the reliability level of p may be obtained. By means of fracture testing principle, fracture (K1C)p can be derived from (J1C)p. Then the reliability method to determine fracture threshold value ΔKth is presented. After the treatment of test data, some important results are obtained. From the statistical test, it is validated that fracture threshold value ΔKth follows the normal distribution.
