Abstract
Shadows in the virtual scene can reflect the relationship of mutual occlusion between objects in space, which provides visual clues to help us understand the position of objects in the scene, and enhances the realism of the virtual scene. Cloud is a complex natural phenomenon, with a very irregular shape, also has no definite boundary and surface. Since these complex features, it is rare to simulate cloud shadow in the virtual scene. Considering this matter, combining cloud simulation algorithm with Shadow Mapping algorithm, a approach was proposed to simulate a cloud shadow on the ground. Meanwhile, corresponding processing was done to the anti-aliasing problem products by Shadow Mapping algorithm. The results show that it can simulate the cloud shadow efficiently and realistically.
