Pulsar pulse time-of-arrival compensation based on star light Doppler

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In order to restrain the Doppler effects to the pulse time-of-arrival effectively, a pulsar pulse time-of-arrival compensation method based on star Doppler was proposed. In this method, according to the star Doppler frequency shift of multi-star, the high-accurate velocity information of spacecraft was solved. Then, the pulse photon time-of-arrival obtained by X-ray detector was compensated with the velocity information. Finally, these pulse photons were accumulated to obtain the pulse time-of-arrival by the epoch folding method. The proposed method can restrain the effect of spacecraft's motion to the pulse time-of-arrival. The theoretic analysis and simulation results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the novel method. The compensation accuracy of the method is two orders of magnitude than that of the orbit propagation method, and the robustness of the method is stronger than that of the orbit propagation method.
