Abstract
The VoIP traffic in core IP networks is simulated by means of comparing it with the voice traffic in traditional telephone networks. Then, the natures of VoIP aggregate traffic and the impact of self-similar internet traffic are observed and analyzed by the simulation, and the results show that the aggregate VoIP traffic has some characteristics of little burst and stationary, so no more bandwidth need to be allocated to it. Finally, some priority scheduling methods about guaranteeing the VoIP QoS in core IP networks have been concluded.
