Abstract

In this article, we design a portable calibration system for air traffic control surveillance radar. This system realizes the automatic flight calibration for Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR), and also can provide a simple flight calibration capability for any aircraft without standard equipments onboard. On the basis of high-precision GPS technology, this system is composed of a portable dual-frequency & dual-antenna GPS receiver, a portable PC and a software system by our own R&D. By analyzing the position accuracy of GPS and dual-antenna, the portable calibration system has the ability of providing automatically conversion arithmetic of coordinate system between WGS-84 and radar station center. A ground dynamic test for this system has been finished, and an actual flight data processing mission for an airport has been accomplished.
