Polarization angle measurement by polarizing beam splitter-based sensor

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

The principle of polarization angle measurement by means of a polarization sensor based on polarizing beam splitter in place of polarizer was demonstrated. The system model of the sensor was built and methodologies for precise calibration were developed. The static testing under laboratory conditions was carried out and the angle algorithm was validated. The experimental results showed that this novel biomimetic sensor with advantages of simple structure, light weight and low cost could achieve a high degree of accuracy, and it may play a role in the field of navigation.
