Abstract

A novel plasma checkerboard electromagnetic surface is proposed for wideband radar cross section (RCS) reduction. The different units of the plasma checkerboard produce a proper reflection phase gradient and can reduce the backscattered wave. We designed a plasma checkerboard that can reduce RCS by more than 80%, from 5.4GHz to 12.6GHz.
