Abstract

The production technique of evotherm warm mix asphalt was introduced. Testing results show that the mixing temperature of stone mastic asphalt(SMA) mixture could be decreased by 30-40°C if evotherm-DAT warm mix asphalt technology is used. The following properties according to the current specification were tested including Marshall stability, flow value, retained Marshall stability, tensile strength ratio, Schellenberg binder drainage test, Cantabro test and rutting dynamic stability. The performance of evotherm-DAT SMA mixture with/without modified asphalt could reach the corresponding hot mix asphat(HMA)'s performance, at the same time both could meet the requirement in current specification. In addition, compared with the corresponding HMA, the fatigue life of evotherm-DAT SMA mixture is improved.
